  1. ICSR (Individual Case Safety Report) Case processing
  2. Aggregate report (PSUR, PSUR, PBRER, PADER, ACO etc.) Authoring and Review
  3. Signal Management
  4. Benefit-Risk Management
  5. PVA (Pharmacovigilance Agreements)
  6. SDEA (safety Data Exchange Agreements)
  7. Risk Management
  8. QPPV (Qualified Person Responsible for Pharmacovigilance)
  9. Role in EudraVigilance
  10. PSMF (Pharmacovigilance System Master File)
  11. PV Quality Assurance (PVQA)
  12. Literature review
  13. Study Reconciliation

Please note the designation could be different however, they mostly fall into above categories.

Now the question is which role is better for Freshers or Experienced PV candidate?

Ok, the answer is in 90% of the cases, freshers are assigned all job tasks related to ICSR including case triage, case validity, case processing etc. ICSR processing is the backbone of Pharmacovigilance process. Its better to build your foundation and then climb other ladders. If you are very lucky then you might get chance to work directly into aggregate reports.

Experienced candidates, who are working into ICSR, we would suggest take experience of ICSR and try to move into Aggregate Reporting or Signal Management or Risk Management. If you ask me tenure to spend in ICSR, it would be in a range of 3 to 5 years. Event if you get chance later, it would be better.

Pharmacovigilance roles including Aggregate Reporting, Signal Management or Risk Management are highly demanding and highly paid jobs in market. So as early you enter into this job, it would be better for your career growth.

Other PV Job roles including PV Agreements, QPPV, EudraVigilance, PVQA etc. are also demanding and challenging but in India, there are limited job openings for these roles. In coming years, definitely there will be a great boost and scope for these PV jobs.
